Foreclosure properties (also known as REO or "Bank Owned" properties) pose a tremendous opportunity for today's buyers to get a great deal on their home purchase. A short sale can take up to 4 weeks or more to negotiate from the time an offer is made because of the amount of documentation an research that ust be submitted to the mortgage company. When the offer is accepted, the home then proceeds to closing just as any other transaction would happen. A savvy and patient buyer can benefit from purchasing a short sale, many times walking away from the closing table with instant equity.
